Chromotope, The 19th century chromatic turn
Arnaud Dubois holds a doctorate in Social Anthropology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and an MFA from the École des Beaux-Arts Paris. He was a visiting researcher at the Musée du Quai Branly, a Fyssen Foundation postdoctoral fellow at University College London and a curator at the Musée des arts et métiers.
Arnaud Dubois first participated to our project in 2019 as Professor of History of Art and Design at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art-Limoges (France) and a research associate at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and EnsadLab. His research interests focus on anthropology of color, the relations between aesthetic, technology and society and the link between art, craft and industry. He has conducted fieldwork and archival research on color practices in international museums of contemporary art, anthropology and science and technology in France, Switzerland, the U.S., and the U.K.
Arnaud Dubois will co-organise with Charlotte Ribeyrol the research seminar on the arts and crafts of colour in 19th century Europe.
