The Ashmolean Museum, in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, is pleased to announce details of our next Wigmore Conference, Defining Owen Jones (1809-1874): Architect and Designer for a Modern Age which will be held the Sultan Nazanin Shah Conference Centre, Worcester College, Oxford on 1-2 October this year.  The full programme is attached. We would be absolutely delighted if you could attend.
Owen Jones (1809-1874) was a prolific architect, designer, illustrator and printer who was recognised during his lifetime as one of the most influential contemporary figures in art and design theory. This international,  interdisciplinary conference on the 150th anniversary of Jones’s death reassesses Jones’s importance and continuing legacy.
Thanks to the generosity of Barrie and Deedee Wigmore, the conference is free to attend but you will need to book a ticket through the Ashmolean’s website (link will go live shortly):
The conference will also be livestreamed and recorded for those who cannot attend in person. Those who wish to attend virtually should contact matthew.winterbottom@ashmus.ox.ac.uk
